Garner Simmons has worked as a writer, producer and director in both film (A Rare Breed, Miracle Landing) and television (Falcon Crest, Yellow Rose, Buck James, the original series V and Poltergeist: the Legacy). He has written or rewritten over 200 episodes of television, movies-of-the-week and miniseries, as well as numerous screenplays.
He is the author of a biography of the late filmmaker Sam Peckinpah (Peckinpah: A Portrait in Montage, 1982, revised 1998), and has contributed to DVD commentaries on 12 of Peckinpah’s 14 feature films.
He is a graduate of Colgate University with a PhD from Northwestern University’s Graduate School of Communication for Television and Film, Garner Simmons, and lives in Los Angeles with his wife Sheila McHugh Simmons and three grown sons.
