Victoria Embankment Gardens is a peaceful tree-lined green space close to the Thames. It is one minute’s walk from Embankment station, and two minutes from Charing Cross. The Gardens feature the historical Watergate, built in 1626 as an entrance to the Thames for the Duke of Buckingham, as well as statues of figures such as John Stuart Mill, and a memorial to the poet Robert Burns.
