Synopsis

During the Napoleonic Wars, charming womaniser Captain Neuville is called to the front just before he is due to marry Pauline. When Pauline doesn't hear from Neuville for months, her sister Elisabeth begins writing fake letters from Neuville that portray him as a war hero. To Elisabeth's dismay, he unexpectedly returns and slips into the facade she created, exploiting his newfound war hero status as a way to take financial advantage of Elisabeth’s aristocratic family.
