In La Ciotat, a once thriving industrial port in France, Antoine, a teenage loner who has friends with Nazi sympathies, attends a summer writing workshop for disruptive students, designed so they can create a novel together. As they start to develop a thriller based on the history of their town, the workshops teacher Olivia, a celebrated novelist, becomes troubled by Antoine’s violent and disturbing writing which depicts a mass murderer with right-wing and racist sympathies.
