Comedy (sequel). Emotionally-inclined step-father Brad Whitaker works in happy partnership with Dusty, the macho biological father of two of his three children, as they raise their family with Brad's wife Sara. When, in the week before Christmas, they realise how much the children dislike having to go between two homes for Christmas, they decide to have a 'Together Christmas' (set to include a visit from Brad's affectionate, garrulous father Don). But the plan begins to go awry when Dusty’s father Kurt, a tough former astronaut, decides to visit as well, unannounced. Using Airbnb, Kurt quickly arranges for everyone to stay at a huge cabin in the mountains, which everyone loves at first, but where tensions soon arise. Misadventures and misunderstandings there involve sleighs, thermostats, outdoor decorations, snow ploughs, chainsaws, bowling, shoplifting, wild turkey-shooting, a hospital, a comedy club and father-son talks about the facts of life. Don reveals a sad secret he has been keeping from Brad. Things come to a head during the family's participation in the town's 'living Nativity' scene, and the whole celebration falls apart, but when they are forced to spend Christmas Day in a snowed-in cinema, watching a Liam Neeson action film called 'Missile Tow' (about a heroic father and his children killing villains as they tow a stolen missile back to NORAD in time for Christmas), they realise they should value each other and a festive singalong ensues in the cinema lobby.
