A young filmmaker travels to a rural retreat with an elderly author who was an activist in her youth. Hoping to collaborate on a script, the director begins interviewing the writer about the period leading up to and after the Thammasat University massacre in 1976, building a picture of the circumstances that sparked her political awakening. The story of the filmmaker and the author is then interwoven with the lives of a waitress who later becomes a cleaner, a nun and a dancer in a club, and a young worker on a tobacco farm who transforms into a famous singer and actor.
