Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)

Film details

Fantasy adventure. Newt Scamander, a British wizard, arrives in New York City in the 1920s with a small suitcase full of supernatural creatures. When some of these remarkable animals escape, Scamander tries to round them up one by one, and as he does so he encounters MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), which is caught up in some turmoil over a collison of the magic and non-magic worlds. Newt befriends a canning factory worker, Jacob Kowalski, who longs to open a bakery but lacks the collateral for the bank loan. Jacob falls for Queenie, the clairvoyant sister of Porpentina Goldstein, the sympathetic magic agent who is dealing with Newt and his predicament. Newt shares with Jacob the laboratory (and ajacent menagerie of fantastic beasts) contained inside his case, and enlists Jacob's help in rounding up his animals. Meanwhile, a no-nonsense agent called Percival Graves is investigating a family of anti-magic protestors from New Salem, who may contain a dangerous magic entity in which Graves shows a special interest. Furthermore, a veritable wave of crime and destruction has been unleashed by the evil Gellert Grindelwald, who may be more involved than people suppose in the events unfolding.
