Biographical/Sports. In 1947, Branch Rickey signs Jackie Robinson to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first Afro-American to play in major-league baseball. But the deal proves hugely controversial and Robinson has to confront racism from the public, press and other players.
