Synopsis

TV documentary. In the late 1940s a group of film-makers were paid by the government to persuade people to use public transport. Although criticised as expensive propaganda, the British Transport Film unit produced some of the finest post-war documentaries and captured a golden era on the railways before the 1960s Beeching cuts.
