Synopsis
The Afar are one of Ethiopia's most fiercely independent tribes, nomadic cattle and camel herders with a tough reputation, carrying guns to protect their herds from rival clans and wild animals. For the women, female circumcision is common and their strict Muslim culture forbids alcohol. Anyone found drinking is immediately beaten and ostracised. Living with them for the next month is former alcoholic, 28-year-old Scottish air hostess Lana Inglis. She will have to keep her past a secret. She hasn't touched a drop for over a year but is still deeply troubled by her past. By living with the Afar for the next month, she wants to try to finally say goodbye to her alcoholism.
