Synopsis

Documentary based on the book by and featuring author Jack Shaheen who explores how Arabs have been presented in Western mainstream cinema, particularly by Hollywood. These racist stereotypical images from Bedouin bandits and sinister sheikhs to submissive women and gun wielding terrorists have influenced American mass culture as well as US domestic and international policies on their lives. The film challenges viewers to consider the damage done by these prejudicial images and the urgent need for action which will do justice to the reality and richness of the Arab peoples and their culture.
