Synopsis

Burkhard Wagner is a door-to-door insurance salesman who, determined to do enough deals to provide for his family, decides to go off for a year, travelling on the motorways and concentrating on work. Tired of sleeping in his car, he decides to stop off at motel, where he encounters the owner, Caroline, who threatens to bring reality and sense into his driven, obsessive world.
