Amit Kumar is an honest policemen sent to the village of Tejpur in an attempt clean up the lawlessness prevalent there. It is ruled by a feudal landlord - the tyrant Sadhu Yadav and his son Sunder. Amit's idealism wins over some of his subordinates but they try to combat evil illegally by using gangaajal (acid) to blind two of Sunder's men in the police lock-up. The situation gets out of hand but eventually the whole town stands by him.
