Synopsis

A widow and her grown-up son head to the south of Italy to stay with family members. Giordano is a simpleton, his intellect badly affected by electric shock treatment he had for depression. He is looked after by his two maiden aunts who run a sugared almond confectionary business based at home. Giordano has always loved and admired his sister-in-law, the widow, and although her son Nino sees him as a chance for gain, she is won over by his kindness, trust and generosity.
