The Namesake (2006)

Film details


Family drama centred around Ashoke and Ashima Ganguli, a Bengali couple who emigrate to the US and live in New York. They name their first child Gogol (prompted by an incident in the life of Ashoke who is a fan of the Russian writer). As Gogol grows up he struggles to come to terms with his name, his parent's heritage and his own identity as an American. When his father dies, he finally arrives at an understanding of his father which he was unable to do when he was alive.
