Synopsis

Drama set in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and based on a real tenement housing block, and its inhabitants who are struggling to survive in the face of a threat to the building. The central character Emily Lobo symbolises the spirit of survival and she is surrounded by several idiosyncratic characters like trumpeter Peter the Cheater. Bow Barracks was an army garrison which, after the Second World War, was leased out to the Anglo-Indian community. Now 140 English speaking families live in Bow Barracks which is on the verge of collapse and desperately needs funds for its repair.
