Red Dust (2004)

Film details


Drama centred around the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which aims to facilitate the process of healing the wounds of the atrocities committed under the apartheid regime. Attorney Sarah Barcant returns to her native South Africa from New York, to represent Alex Mapondo, a black political activist who had been tortured by a white police officer, Dirk Hendricks, under apartheid. Hendricks is now seeking amnesty before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Mapondo intends to oppose Hendricks' claim and also to find out what happened to his comrade Steve Sizela who had been tortured with him and subsequently disappeared. Barcant is also representing James Sizela who is seeking the truth about the fate of his son.
