Synopsis
The sixth programme in the third series. Tells the story of an experiment undertaken in Chakaria, in western Bangladesh, to involve the villagers of the district in the construction of its first ever health centre. Tells how the project was initiated by community doctor Moazzem Houssain, from ICDDR (the International Centre of Diarrhoeal Research), who took up residence in the area and involved villagers from the outset. Discusses the obstacles the project had to overcome, the successes it achieved, and the role that community health care provision can play in a national health care strategy.
