Synopsis

Adapted from the play of the same name by Girish Karnad, the plot is taken from The Myth of Yavakri - a part of the epic The Mahabarata. Set during the time of a ten year drought where villages will do anything to please the Gods to make it rain. The chief priest Paravasu has sacrificed everything, including his wife Vishakha, for the last seven years, and devoted himself to religion. Vishakha feels abandoned and the return of her old lover Yavakri, triggers a chain of irrevocable events.
