Beginning with the assasination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948, the documentary records, in six chapters, the transition of politics in India from the pacifism during the time of Nehru to the current nationalism by the BJP and its Hindutva allies. The film also looks at current peace activism in the face of global militarism and at the competitive militarism with neighbouring Pakistan, result -ing in tragic human loss as well as health hazards faced by residents of Khetolai, near the nuclear test site of Pokhran in Rajasthan.
