Eighth programme in the second series of `Life' programmes, focusing on the impact of globalisation on the urban environment. Tells the story of three women shack dwellers who were amongst the over 70,000 very poor women belonging to the Homeless People's Federation of South Africa. They were participants in the Victoria Mxenge housing project, the first such scheme founded by the Federation in Khayalitsha, a sprawling township outside Cape Town, in which women joined forces to build their own homes.
