Synopsis

The first ten programmes of a 25-part phonics special series designed to help primary teachers teach the phonic element of reading. Using graphics, animation, real-world action, rhyme, wordplay, onset and rime, and song, each programme has a single teaching focus that relates to a particular group of phonemes. The programme titles and themes are: `The Big, big book' initial single letter phonemes; `Finish it off' final single letter phonemes; `Look for the H!' initial ch, sh; `Rhyme time' onset and rime; `The Big Bog Bug' CVC words with short vowel a; `Get a pet!' CVC words with a short vowel e; `The Fix-it Kid' CVC words with short vowel i; `The Mop Top Lot' CVC words with short vowel o; `Mum's the word' CVC words with short vowel u; `The Friendly Enders' words ending in ff, ll, ss, ck, ng.
