City Life (2001)

Film details

First programme in the second series of `Life' programmes, focusing on the impact of globalisation on the urban environment. Her challenge is how to bring change fast enough to the over 400,000 Paulista families who lack what the city authorities call `even minimally decent housing'. Includes comments from Sheela Patel, from the Mumbai-based SPARC network (the Society for the Preservation of Area Resource Centres), Saskia Sassens, Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago, Peter Marcuse, Professor of Urban Planning at Columbia University and Ed Glaeser, Professor of Economics at Harvard University.
