Synopsis

A gay man leading a double life; a biological clock that needs stopping; the complications of family life - Hashiguchi addresses all these issues in his funny but thoughtful portrait of modern Japanese life. Katsuhiro is a closeted gay man who gradually develops a relationship with the more extrovert Naoya. However, a chance encounter with a depressed young woman, Asako, changes the course of their life forever. Told that she may never be able to have children, Asako is desperate to become pregnant and approaches Katsuhiro to be the father. Naïvely they navigate a three-way relationship but tension starts to show when Naoya and Asoka discover Katsuhiro has not always been honest with them. As the drama unfolds, it transpires all three have difficult relation- ships with their families and, to make sense of the mess they are in, the threesome must ultimately decide what being a family means.
