Synopsis

Drama centred around a police officer who believes in reforming criminals instead of punishing them. Sam Bharucha, a Parsi officer in the Mumbai Police, is on the trail of four young gangsters. One of them Martin, is informed on by his mother and handed over to the police. The other three, Lallya, Sonal and Nana, escape and in a shoot out, they are killed. Bharucha learns that Lallya, the boy he has shot, was about to surrender before he was killed. Filled, with remorse, he sets out, with the help of news reporter Kiran Jaywant's, to trace Lallya's parents as no one has come forward to claim his body. The owner of a liquor den, Poonappa Awadhe informs Bharucha that he knows that the boy is from an affluent family, but they deny that he is their son. The film exposes the hypocrisy of Indian middle class society. The family does not come forward, for fear that their image in society will be tarnished if it is known that their son was a gangster.
