Synopsis

The second programme in a thirty part series which tackles complex issues of globalisation and growing inequality. Tells the story of Geraldo De Sousa, who was made redundant from his job in the Ford car factory in Sao Paulo, Brazil, having worked his way out of poverty in one of the city's shantytowns. He was told his dismissal was because of the financial meltdown in faraway South East Asia. With the help of investigative journalist, Jon Alpert, he sets out to discover the real reasons behind his situation. Considers whether the harsh reality of the new globalised economy is to blame.
