The Story So Far (2000)

Film details

Synopsis

The first programme in a thirty part series which tackles complex issues of globalisation and growing inequality. In 1995, the World Social Summit in Copenhagen promised to eradicate poverty, but world leaders meeting in Geneva in June 2000 to review progress were expected to conclude that the task had been far tougher than they imagined. This programme asks whether the globalised economy is now running out of control, or whether ordinary people can still hope to share in its fabulous wealth. Contributors include: James Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, Susan George, Robert Reich, Naomi Klein, Francis Fukuyama, and Noam Chomsky.
