Synopsis

Tells the story behind the unearthing of the ancient city of Cahokia, built around 1050 AD, some of the remains of which now lie buried beneath the city of St Louis in Missouri. The Cahokia Mounds are in nearby south western Illinois. Relates the rise and fall of the ancient native American civilisation that built the city, which in its heyday was bigger than London or Rome, and speculates on the reasons behind its fall.
