Synopsis
A five-part unit of programmes intended to open up the language and experience of deaf people for young hearing viewers, and introduce them to the world of sign language. Presented in the form of a drama, featuring a mixture of deaf and hearing characters, with a programme strand designed to explore and extend the potential for learning the signs featured in each episode. Follows the story of an 11 year-old boy and his small group of friends through one summer, as they make and break friends, get in and out of trouble, solve some family problems and create a few more, and hang out at `The Wall' to swap ideas about life, the future and being a teenager... Takes BSL as its principal focus, while also acknowledging forms of sign language such as Sign Supported English (SSE).
