Vatel (2000)

Film details

In the year 1671, Louis XIV announces he will spend three days at the country home of Prince de Conde, who is determined, although unwell, to give the King a truly royal welcome. The Prince instructs Vatel, his loyal steward, to make the necessary arrangements. Vatel organises an extravagant number of entertainments and is popular with everyone, including a beautiful courtesan, Anne, but some of his deeds find ill favour with certain of the attendees, such as the King's unsavoury brother, Philippe.
