Dogma (1999)

Film details

Black comedy. Takes a look at Christian religion and faith by centring on Bethany, an abortion clinic employee who is Catholic, and disappointed in life after being abandoned by her husband and her lack of children. She is 'employed' by an angel, Metatron, to save everyone in existence by foiling the plans of two exiled angels to use a loop-hole to get back into heaven by passing through the "plenary" arch of a cathedral which will forgive their sins. The paradox this could cause would mean everything in existence would disappear. She is assisted by supernatural beings Muse and the thirteenth apostle Rufus, who was left out of the bible, as well as two young misfits.
