Synopsis
The story of boxer Mario Gibellini (aka "the dancer") in twelve segments - twelve chapters like the rounds of the prize fight that comes to symbolize his life. Each recounts a salient moment: the early victories; Teresa, the sweetheart who becomes his wife; the bribes and fixed fights; his time in jail; petty crimes; betrayal... A cold and gray October day. Fresh out of jail, Mario Gibellini takes up his old ways: wasting time at the bar with friends, taking odd jobs on the edge of legality, a wife whom he loves yet betrays, a daughter, the apple of his eye... and even the same old ambition: punching his way to glory, resuming a career that had been placed on hold for several years... Fit as ever after months of gruelling exercise in prison, Mario now feels ready for a comeback. But with forty plus years on his back, it's no easy trick to convince others that like some latter day George Foreman he can still deliver the goods.
