Television adaptation of the stage version "The Scarlet Pimpernel" by Baroness Orczy and Montague Barstowe. The classic story of Sir Percy Blakeney, seemingly an idle English aristocratic fop, but really the mysterious leader of a band who rescues aristocrats from the guillotine during the French Revolution. In an attempt to discover the Pimpernel's identity, French envoy Chauvelin tries to blackmail and intimidate Sir Percy's wife, who is French.
