Psychological drama about the effects of political victimisation and torture. American journalist Helen McNulty and photographer boyfriend, Jan, are assigned to contact a rebel leader in an unnamed Central American country. She finds herself drawn to the keynote speaker, Anna Lenke, a Holocaust survivor who now runs a therapy centre. Helen agrees to write a feature about the clinic but once there, she is treated by Anna as a victim in need of therapy.
