Freeway (1996)

Film details

When her hooker mum and drug-addict dad are taken away by police, sixteen year-old Vanessa sets off, Red Riding Hood-like, to find her grandmother. Her car breaks down on the freeway and she hitches a ride from an apparently friendly and sympathetic child psychologist, Wolverton. Just in time she realises he is the serial killer police have been seeking who preys on young women. She manages to shoot him and steal his wallet, leaving him for dead. Wolverton, however, survives and alerts the police with the result that Vanessa is put in prison and he is treated as media hero. Eventually she escapes, and two policeman find evidence proving her story of self-defense.
