Synopsis
Adventure drama based on true events. In the 1890s, Irish engineer and soldier John Patterson is sent to Tsavo, in Kenya, to build a bridge across a river for the East African railway. There, his workers become prey to two man-eating lions, who seem to act unnaturally, killing when not even hungry, as if for the pleasure of it. Patterson tries to kill the lions but is repeatedly thwarted as the lions evade his traps. The workers suspect that the lions are supernatural, perhaps even devils, and they dub them 'The Ghost' and 'The Darkness'. Many men decide to flee. Remington, a renowned sharp-shooter who knows Africa well, is called in to help, and they stalk the lions. Much blood is spilled before Patterson finally gets his chance to stop the beasts once and for all. We are told that the lions can be seen today in a museum in Chicago.
