Lilian's Story (1996)

Story of an eccentric but tenacious woman, incarcerated in a mental institution by her overbearing father and left there for forty years. Finally allowed out, she is placed in a cheap hotel in Sydney's red light district. There she befriends a group of prostitutes, becomes surrogate mother to a pregnant religious freak, and accidently meets again the love of her youth - now an alcoholic taxi driver. Story is based on the life of well-known Sydney eccentric, Bea Miles.
