Synopsis

Set in the mid-1800s in the province of Dalarna, Sweden. Ingmar is a young man who will inherit his father's estate and hopes to marry his beloved Gertrud. But fate intervenes in the form of a mysterious stranger, who tries to convince the citizens of the village to move to Palestine, in the name of Christianity. This leads to many complications, broken hearts and even death. The final emigration to Palestine results in disaster.
