Synopsis

The final programme in a series of thirteen in which Arthur C. Clarke probes the mysteries of the human mind and supernatural powers. The author presents two further stories: one about a mysterious, disappearing hole seen once only by both a vicar and his wife in a Devonshire churchyard in the late 1940s; the other about two British married couples on a motoring holiday in October 1979 who spent the night near Montélimar in France in an old-fashioned guesthouse, which subsequently disappeared - even from their snapshots. Arthur C. Clarke gives his own verdicts of other paranormal phenomena examined in the series, and conducts viewers on a tour of Sri Lanka, where the supernatural and astrology flourish. The programme also looks at the work of Harry Price, one-time honorary secretary of the University of London's Council for Psychical Research.
