Synopsis
The tenth in a series of thirteen programmes. Arthur C. Clarke investigates spiritualism and the claims of various people that they are in direct communication with the dead, including a Brazilian psychologist claiming to be in touch with the spirits of great master painters, and a retired school teacher in Bradford who claims creative communication with some 200 spirits including those of famous writers such as Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen. The programmes describes how spiritualism began in a house in Hydesville, New York State in 1848 and visits the headquarters of the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain in Belgravia and a psychic holiday camp in Indiana.
