Synopsis

An investigation into the fate of the Donner party, an 1846 wagon train from Illinois to California, which was trapped in the Sierra Nevada by a very fierce winter and experienced Indian attacks, starvation, madness and cannibalism. Uses archive footage, photos, paintings, eye witness accounts and actors.
