Synopsis

Covers the work of the Library Campaign in protesting at local level against closures in public libraries, and its opposition to the government's policy of compulsory competitive tendering. Also uses archive film made by the Association of Assistant Librarians in 1950. Supporters of the Campaign featured in the programme include Melvyn Bragg and Ivor Cutler. Also includes interviews with Ross Shimmon, Chief Executive of the Library Association.
