Smart Alek (1993)

Film details

A family is about to go on their summer holidays to Jaywick Sands. Englishness abounds and the car is packed tightly with loaves of 'Mother's Pride' bread and inflatable rubber rings. There is an adolescent son: bored, an excited daughter: waiting. A mother and father: fractious at the thought of being together, and a grandmother: sometimes senile, sometimes omnipotent. There is an accident and we watch their cosy world slowly disintegrating.
