Drama-documentary. The story of the grounding of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker 24 March 1989 at Prince William Sound, Alaska, and the environmental disaster which followed when it let loose 11 million gallons of oil. The film concentrates chiefly on the aftermath of the diaster, the backroom squabbles, political power struggles and general bickering, leading to an atmosphere of confusion, suspicion and fear which seriously impeded the clean-up operation.
