George Steiner - Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Geneva, Julia Kristeva - psychoanalyst and novelist, and Terry Eagleton - Max Warton Professor of English at Oxford University discuss the crisis of meaning at the end of the 20th century. George Steiner argues that without some notion of God, meaning and value, paricularly as represented in the great traditions of art and literature, can have no ultimate validation.
