Synopsis
Through the lives of four Lebanese from very different backgrounds, assesses the impact of modern warfare on the environment and looks ahead to a new conflict in the making - this time over the Middle East's most precious natural resource: water. Tells how, during sixteen years of civil war, Lebanon was a battleground for conflicting religious, ideological and nationalist factions. Thousands of its citizens were murdered, maimed, kidnapped or displaced, and much of the country was laid waste. Forests were burned, seas and rivers polluted, sand sold from the beaches, toxic waste dumped and water siphoned from southern Lebanon to supply new settlements in Israel.
