Dunroamin (1991)

Film details

Personal view by journalist Ann Leslie about the place of the suburb as part of English life and the family life, privacy, individual fantasy and aspirations that are an integral part or aspect of suburban residents. She talks to Peggy Spencer, the doyenne of ballroom dancing, playwright Alan Ayckbourn, most of whose plays are set in suburbs and reflect suburban characters, and the residents of suburbia themselves. It also considers the new housing developments modelling themselves on the ideal of suburbia.
