Synopsis

Based on the novel by Alison Prince, and set in England during 1944. About a London boy who has been evacuated to a village in Suffolk. He is initially disliked by the local children who consider him a "townie". His only friend is also an outsider. Her mother, a German refugee, is suspected of being a spy. He develops a talent for bartering and makes enough money to return to London, only to discover his house in ruins and his mother in hospital. Back in Suffolk he finally gains acceptance and proves the innocence of his friend's mother.
