Based on the true story of Betty Mahmoody. Set in the mid-1980s. After being married to an Iranian doctor for 20 years, she reluctantly agrees to accompany him back to Tehran to visit his family. She is made to wear a chador, and at the end of the two weeks she is told that they are going to remain in Iran. She is restricted to her home and is not allowed to use the phone and has her passport taken away from her, and this is just the beginning of the nightmare...
