Synopsis

Dr. Grasler is bored with his work in the health spas of the Austro- Hungarian Empire. On holiday with his domineering sister, the latter commits suicide. He becomes engaged to Sabine, the daughter of a retired opera singer, but cannot go through with the marriage. Aimless once more, he embarks on an affair with Katherina....
